Good leadership, true pathway to prosperity

DAR ES SALAAM: HAVING sufficient leadership skills is one of the most decorated qualities that a person is entitled to have in order to lead well people towards achieving specific goals.

As a leader, your subordinates entirely look upon you for guidance meaning that you have to arm yourself with essential leadership abilities for the sake of navigating them towards the right direction. It is always a lucrative privilege to have a big picture in your mind and entice people to join the chain in turning such dreams to reality which of course requires coordinated efforts with everyone involved.

At family level, both parents (father and mother) play a vital leadership roles to ensure that everything is unfolding well and that the family is making progress as their subordinates (children) relies on them for proper upbringing.

Leading a family well is also another good indicator of practicing proper leadership bearing in mind that it is an institution composed of more than one person.

However, it is encouraging to see that these days, women are not lagging behind when it comes to occupying major leadership positions no wonder they are holding key positions in different capacities in government and private sectors.

Most of them deserve credit as they are executing nicely their responsibilities in terms of drawing a map and ensure that her followers are inclined to it until they together reach the intended destination.

A vivid example to support the fact that women are becoming good leaders is incredible works being done by President Samia Suluhu Hassan who is at the peak of driving the nation, while carrying hopes of all Tanzanians.

For women residing in Dar es Salaam and nearby areas, they have an opportunity to generate extra leadership knowledge thanks to the upcoming Women’s Leadership Dialogue Forum (WLDF) season Two set at King Jada Hotel in the city on Saturday.

This is a rare opportunity for them to hear real life experiences from women who are doing well in different leadership capacities and are willing to share engaging stories on how they managed to be where they are.

Benevo Consult Managing Director Diana Harry has briefed the Daily News that preparations for the big event are progressing well and that the attendees will be able to grasp modern leadership ways.

“We will bring women together so that they can learn from their colleagues who are serving in various decision-making positions on how they amicably manage to execute their responsibilities. “This platform will help to equip them with best methods on how to lead others and as you know, women are good at making decisions but they need to be trained further. “We want to instil in them the spirit of curiosity so that they can rush for any opportunity standing in front of them without fear… remember, a sense of confidence is key to prosperity.

“It is just a matter of daring to accomplish something…most women that you see doing well in various capacities dared to do that because they believed in themselves… otherwise, if they had not, we could hardly see them shining,” she said.

On why they have specifically targeted women to partake in this event, she responded that they (women) have a great convincing power when it comes to making decisions either at work place or family level.

“We have to unlock the spirit of lacking confidence among them and spark the strong leadership spirit that is within them,” remarked Diana who is also founder of WLDF. She continued: “We believe that leadership is not all about occupying a certain title, but rather, it is something that begins from the family as such, all women at their homes are leaders.

“Moreover, the trainees will be taught on how to seriously take charge of their responsibilities wherever they are and, in such doing, they will be able to go further in their day-to-day undertakings.

“We strongly believe that leadership is all about influence and not title…and everyone is blessed with such influence hence everyone is a leader.” Again, Diana clarified that the workshop is open to all women who are ready to be equipped with leadership skills regardless whether they are employed or not… “even those who have just completed their studies are encouraged to take part.” She then disclosed that Vice-President Stand Up for Women Society – Tanzania Chapter Ms Caroline Valerian will be the keynote speaker during the workshop.

“She is a woman of integrity and she holds various decision-making posts as such, those who will attend will be able to digest leadership skills from a reputable person,” Diana said.

According to her, in November this year, they expect to host another WLDF event that will attract many people from within and outside the country who will come under one roof to share ideas about good leadership.

“We want to make this programme reach many women drawn within and outside the country…with this move, I strongly believe that in due course, our target will be reached,” she said.

Meanwhile, Jeniffer Shigoli has been named as among the key panelists during the dialogue and her leadership journey has made tangible impacts in East Africa. She has excelled to empower thousands of women and youths by arming them with tools, confidence and mindset so that they can easily conquer the world and make their lives much better.
