Six jailed for setting fire to Saibaba bus

KOROGWE: The District Court in Korogwe has sentenced six people involved in setting fire to property belonging to the Saibaba Company to three years in prison or a fine of 1m/- each.

While reading the charges in court before the Senior Magistrate, Francisca Maguiza, the Government lawyer Sarah Wangwe stated that the accused committed the crime on February 17, 2024, at the “Shamba Darasa” area in Msambiazi village, Mtonga ward, Korogwe district.

The accused  are Bashiru Shehoza, Bakari Anania, Bakari Mhando, Ramadhani Malaba, Benjamin Shehoza, and Abdallah Koko, all residents of Korogwe.

However, Magistrate Maguiza confirmed that the accused have the right to appeal the decision within 30 days, or serve a three-year sentence, or pay the 100 million shilling fine each.
