Poem: A Prayer for Your Smile

Time clocking, days passing, Where will I find you? I have searched for days, Hours, I haven’t been able to locate you.

My ribs feel like glass catching the light just before they shatter, The silence in this room has a weight that bruises, I am calling into an empty canyon,  catching nothing but the thinning ghost of my own voice.

I am tracing old maps of a city that burned down, I am losing hope. I am breaking, caught off breath. I slowly bruise my knees longing for you my missed one.

Is it love, or is it loneliness that breaks my heart in two? I wander through the space and ask, when will I see you?

Should I ascend into the sky, past stars that softly gleam, To find your missing pieces and rebuild a broken dream?

I long to feel my smile return, the way it used to do, So tell me, will you come again, and make the world feel new?

Oh, come back from the shadows, bring the light that I have after, And fill this aching silence with your sweet, familiar laughter.
