Samia orders Malecela grounds to be the headquarters of agricultural extension

DODOMA: President Samia Suluhu Hassan has directed the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries to ensure that the John Malecela Grounds located in Nzuguni, Dodoma commonly known as the Nanenane Grounds become the headquarters for agricultural extension services in the country.
President Samia issued the directive on Friday during the official closing ceremony of the National Farmers, Livestock Keepers, and Fishers Exhibition (Nanenane) held in Dodoma.
She noted that due to the existing infrastructure at the grounds including shops for agricultural inputs, livestock, and fisheries products and the fact that the area operates year-round, it would be wise to consolidate all extension services at the site to make them more accessible to citizens.

The President further emphasized that even with the establishment of this national headquarters, it is important that extension services continue to be provided in other regions across the country to ensure that all farmers, livestock keepers, and fishers, regardless of location, receive the support they need.
This directive is part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen and improve extension services with the goal of increasing productivity in the agriculture, livestock, and fisheries sectors key pillars of Tanzania’s economy.
