84 teachers see benefits of Dar Rotary Club’s inclusive learning seminar

DAR ES SALAAM: 84 teachers from government schools in Kinondoni Municipality have benefited from a two-day seminar designed to equip teachers with practical, modern, and evidence‑based approaches to enhance classroom engagement, promote inclusive learning, and support pupils with diverse needs.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam, the two-day training was part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening quality education and empowering educators within the communities.
Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam, through its Gift of Education project, organised a capacity‑building seminar on learning techniques and inclusive training practices for primary school teachers in Kinondoni Municipality.
The seminar, which was held at Kinondoni Primary School recently, benefited 84 teachers from government schools in the municipality. It was designed to equip teachers with practical, modern, and evidence‑based approaches to enhance classroom engagement, promote inclusive learning, and support pupils with diverse needs.
The seminar involved Interactive lectures, Group discussions, role-playing, case studies and Practical lesson plan development.

Speaking at the climax of the training, Kinondoni Municipal Education Officer in charge of primary education, Deograsia Mapunda, said the seminar came at the right time as teachers really need to be well equipped with the inclusive training techniques.
She said that the strengthened capacity will enable them to mentor and support around 2,000 teachers and about 100,000 pupils in Kinondoni Municipality, fostering better participation, inclusivity, and learning outcomes.
She commended Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam for the invaluable support and promised that the government will work hand in hand with Rotary in this undertaking.

The Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam President Abdulkadir Hameed said the club understand that modern education requires teachers to employ engaging instructional strategies that cater to diverse learners, hence the decision to support capacity building for the teachers.
We understand that Inclusive teaching ensures that pupils of varying abilities, learning styles, and backgrounds actively participate in the learning process, and we believe that this seminar has given the teachers the much-needed skills in this area.
Abdulkadir further thanked the Municipal education officer for her support in making the seminar a huge success as well as all participants for their huge attendance. “We hope that they will transfer this crucial knowledge to their colleagues” said Abdulkadir.
