TIE signs MoU with two firms in efforts to enhance digital education in Tanzanian schools

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) has taken steps to strengthen primary education in the country by improving curricula and building teachers’ capacity to use digital systems through a partnership with Sahara Consult.
The move follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions in Dar es Salaam, aimed at enhancing the use of education technology in primary schools.
Speaking during the signing ceremony held on June 29, 2026, in Dar es Salaam, TIE Director General Dr Anneth Komba said the partnership seeks to strengthen the integration of technology into the primary education system in Tanzania.
She said the agreement will provide a foundation for promoting digital education through curriculum improvements, training teachers on the use of technology, and connecting technology innovators with curriculum developers to ensure innovations align with educational needs.
Dr Komba said TIE believes the time has come to further strengthen the implementation of the improved curriculum to ensure students graduate with skills that match the demands of the 21st century.
“Our main agenda is to strengthen education technology within the primary education system. The Sixth Phase Government has introduced major reforms, and these reforms have brought various changes to our curricula, including the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT),” she said.
