16 groups in Kondoa receive entrepreneurship training

DODOMA: AT least 16 groups comprising women, youth and people with disabilities in Kondoa Town Council have received entrepreneurship training aimed at enabling them to manage income-generating activities and repay loans issued by the council.

Speaking during the opening of the training, the Kondoa Town Council Executive Director, Mr Said Majaliwa said the government is committed to supporting women, youth and people with disabilities so that they can engage in various productive activities.

“I congratulate you all and urge you to be attentive and take this training seriously. You have met all the criteria and completed the necessary processes, now it is your time to perform well so the loans can be repaid and benefit others,” said Mr Majaliwa.

He emphasised the importance of maintaining proper group documentation and having a designated office where all records can be stored and accessed, rather than relying on a single individual.

Moreover, he instructed community development officers to guide the groups on appropriate business strategies aligned with the actual loan amounts disbursed.

“Some groups applied for over 300m/-, but the council has disbursed 90m/- . Most of you have received less than you requested, so please run your businesses based on the amount given to avoid repayment challenges,” he stressed.

Earlier, the Head of the Community Development Department, Mr Wenceslaus Mbilango explained that the disbursement was part of the third loan phase since the programme resumed last year, with a total of 90m/- issued to the 16 groups. Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the council for the support, stating that the funds would significantly improve their livelihoods.

They also pledged to repay the loans according to the set procedures. Since resuming loan issuance in October 2024, Kondoa Town Council has disbursed more than 457m/- to 54 groups in three phases.
