Zanzibar’s progress rooted in unity, solidarity, says Isles VP
ZANZIBAR: ZANZIBAR Second Vice President Hemed Suleiman Abdulla, has attributed the islands’ visible prosperity to unity, political stability and solidarity despite citizens differences.
Mr Abdulla made the remarks when he joined Muslims from two regions of Pemba in an Iftar event he organised for them at Tibirinzi Children’s recreation grounds in ChakeChake District, South Pemba Region.
He said that the government, led by President Dr Hussein Mwinyi, continues to emphasise unity, political stability and harmony as the key pillars in achieving its goal of bringing development to its people.
The VP said that “government projects are being implemented in both Unguja and Pemba, including schools, hospitals, water infrastructure, roads and economic empowerment initiatives, to ensure equal development opportunities for all citizens.”

He expressed gratitude to the citizens who attended the Iftar, saying their presence was a noble gesture that demonstrated love and unity between the people and their leaders.
Iftar is the evening meal that Muslims eat to break their fast during the holy month of Ramadan. Speaking on behalf of the attendees, Mr Muhammad Nassor Salim thanked the VP for maintaining the tradition of breaking fast with people.
He described the practice as commendable and a highly rewarding act of worship before Allah (SW).
Mr Salim further said that the people of the two regions of Pemba are satisfied with the country’s ongoing development, which is a result of the commitment and accountability of every government department in serving the people of Zanzibar.
