Zanzibar youth advised to seize opportunities created by the union in education, employment and business

PEMBA: YOUTH have been urged to seize opportunities created by the Tanzania Union, particularly in education, employment and business, to improve their livelihoods and contribute to national development.

Minister of State in the Vice-President’s Office (Union and Environment), Eng Hamad Yussuf Masauni made the remarks on Sunday during the graduation ceremony of the Islamic College of Pemba, where he urged graduates to make full use of the opportunities available to them.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Masauni stated that the government has continued to create a conducive environment for youth to benefit from opportunities arising from the Union where education is among the key areas where they are benefiting.

“Today is a day of happiness and pride, but also a day to reflect on the long journey that has brought our graduates to this important stage of life. The government has invested a lot and prioritized education by improving learning infrastructure and strengthening teacher-training colleges in Zanzibar,” he said.

According to the minister, the effort demonstrates the government’s commitment to empowering youth with knowledge and skills that would enable them to contribute to the education sector and national development.

“No nation can achieve sustainable development without people who have education, knowledge, skills, creativity, integrity and the ability to address challenges facing the nation,” he said.

He stressed that advancing education could not be the responsibility of the government alone, calling for concerted efforts by both Union governments, education institutions, teachers, parents, leaders, communities and other stakeholders.

Mr Masauni further noted that rapid advances in science, technology and information and communication technologies (ICT) were transforming the world, requiring teachers to continuously learn and improve their skills.

He urged graduates to remain committed to lifelong learning and adapt to emerging changes so they could effectively contribute to the country’s development.
