He noted that Zanzibar still has numerous investment opportunities in areas such as the Blue Economy, Agriculture, Energy, Infrastructure and Health, which require financial and technical support, adding the collaboration with the financial institution will bring relief by reducing operational costs.

Additionally, President Mwinyi said that the Blue Economy, Agriculture, Energy, Infrastructure and Health sectors are among the government’s priority projects and require additional support to bring significant benefits to the country.

The Head of Bankers Without Boundaries Mr Matteo Scollabrino, said that the institution, which operates in 40 countries worldwide, aims to collaborate with the government to invest in environmentally sustainable projects while reducing operational costs.

The institution has already allocated 500 million US dollars to achieve the goal. Meanwhile, President Mwinyi urged the public and political leaders to exercise caution with the growing use of inflammatory language as Tanzania prepares for its Local Government Elections later this year and the General Election next year.

“Let us prepare for the elections peacefully. All conflicts and disruptions to peace begin with reckless words that sow divisions. This must stop,” Dr Mwinyi said at the Nyamanzi-Dimani Trade Fair grounds, where he concluded his tour aimed at meeting local party leaders.

Dr Mwinyi who is Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) National Vice Chairman held meetings with local party leaders in four different regions on Unguja islands, directing them to start preparations for the coming general election.

The President also urged his followers, party members and the public not to be swayed by politics that threatens peace, unity and stability. “Let us compete with our policies and ideas. Let voters judge candidates by their achievements and track records,” he said.

President Mwinyi cautioned CCM leaders against engaging in slander, falsehoods, or fake news during the upcoming election campaign. He characterised such tactics as “dirty politics” that could be detrimental to the nation.

The President emphasised the importance of maintaining a clean campaign focused on issues and policies rather than personal attacks.

President Mwinyi applauded the admirable achievements recorded in implementing CCM Election Manifesto for 2020-2025, as he expressed hopes that following good record, the party is in better position to win next elections.

CCM Vice Chairman said that the journey to general election has begun, urging party committee leaders to organise themselves to ensure that no member will be left without being registered in the Permanent Voters Register (PVR) and ensure that they vote to guarantee the party’s victory.

Dr Mwinyi expressed concern over a trend among some CCM members to skip voting, which could harm the party’s chances of winning elections.

He pointed to the 2015 election in Unguja West, where over 26,000 registered voters did not  cast ballots. In the 2020 election in the same area, more than 10,000 members missed voting without a clear reason.

Dr Mwinyi warned that this pattern could prevent CCM from winning by a large margin. He ordered party leaders to make sure every registered member votes in the upcoming election.
