Uhuru Torch race enters Shinyanga after inspecting development projects worth 101.9bn/-

MWANZA: THE Regional Commissioner of Mwanza, Mr Said Mtanda, has handed over the  Uhuru Torch  to Shinyanga region after completing its relay to all 8 councils from August 10, 2026 in Ukerewe district to yesterday August 17, 2026 in Kwimba district.

Speaking at the handover ceremony held today, August 18, 2026 at the Mwigumbi primary school grounds in Kishapu district,  Mtanda said that within those eight days the Uhuru has been relayed a distance of 942. 3 kilometers passing through 51 development projects worth 101.9bn/-

He explained that the projects concern the water, health, education, roads and bridges, community development, environmental conservation as well as the use of clean energy as part of the Government’s efforts to improve services and boost the economy of the people.

In addition, he thanked the citizens for considering the message of the 2026 Uhuru torch which says, “Tanzania is for all of us, Let’s stick Together to Bring Progress,” in parallel with opposing corruption, drugs, AIDS and promoting good nutrition for the development of the Nation.
