Zanzibar Heroes coach commends his team for positive star

ZANZIBAR: ZANZIBAR Heroes Coach Ali Bakari Mgazija has praised his team for a hardfought 1-0 victory against Kilimanjaro Stars, underscoring it as a positive start in their quest for the Mapinduzi Cup at Gombani Stadium in Pemba South region on Friday evening.

Speaking after the match, Mgazija, attributed the victory to thorough preparations.

He acknowledged the difficulty of defeating their opponents due to their quality, but expressed gratitude to his players for following instructions that contributed to the victory.

The coach also acknowledged tough challenge in their upcoming match against Burkina Faso tomorrow, but expressed confidence that his players’ impetus will help them secure three points.

“We are grateful for victory. I commend my players for the good beginning,” said Mgazija. The opening of the Mapinduzi tournament was officiated by the Speaker of the Zanzibar House of Representatives, Zubeir Ali Maulid.

The Kilimanjaro Stars’ Head Coach, Ahmed Ali, described the loss as a mere luck for their opponents, despite his team’s efforts to secure a win. He stated that the team would address the shortcomings observed and prepare better for the next match, urging fans not to lose hope as they aim for victory in the upcoming game.

Chake-Chake District Commissioner, Mgeni Khatib Yahya, highlighted that hosting the tournament in Pemba provides an opportunity to nurture youth’ talent across Zanzibar.

She stressed that young people will be motivated to engage in sports after witnessing others, like Feisal Salum, benefit and showcase their talent.
