Mapinduzi Cup kicks off today

ZANZIBAR: THE much-anticipated Mapinduzi Cup begins today, with an opening match Tanzania Mainland’s Kilimanjaro Stars facing off against Zanzibar Heroes at Gombani Stadium in Pemba.

The match is set to kick off at 08:15 pm, marking the beginning of an exciting tournament with a round-robin format.

This year’s competition is unique, featuring not only the two Tanzanian sides but also international teams from Kenya and Burkina Faso.

The tournament promises to be a spectacle of football, with all four teams battling for supremacy in the stunning setting of Pemba for the first time.

The national teams from Burkina Faso and Kenya will square off tomorrow, setting the tone for the rest of the tournament.

All matches will kick off at the same time, 08:15 pm, ensuring that football fans across the Island will be treated to a series of exciting encounters under the evening sky.

The Zanzibar Heroes, fresh off their opening match today, will quickly shift focus to their next challenge on Monday, where they will take on Burkina Faso.

The culmination of the Mapinduzi Cup will take place on January 13th, when the top two teams will battle it out for the coveted silverware.
