Yas expands digital access in Nungwi

ZANZIBAR: Yas has expanded its footprint in Zanzibar with the official opening of a new Nungwi Yas store Unguja North Region, as part of efforts to improve access to digital and financial services for residents and businesses.
The launch event in Nungwi, was officiated by the Mayor of the North A Unguja Municipal Council, Mr Nyange Kher Ali, who represented the Regional Commissioner for Unguja North Region.
Mr Ali commended Yas for its continued investment in Zanzibar, saying the move supports government efforts to strengthen digital inclusion and create employment opportunities for young people.
“This investment plays a significant role in growing our local economy and expanding access to important digital services for our people,” he said.

On her part, Yas Tanzania’s Director for Customer Experience and Operations, Ms Mwangaza Matotola, said the new store forms part of the company’s broader strategy to bring services closer to communities while supporting the growth of Tanzania’s digital economy.
“The opening of this store in Nungwi reflects our commitment to ensuring every Tanzanian can access digital and financial services conveniently, quickly, and with high-quality standards,” said Ms Matotola.
She added that Yas continues to invest heavily in network expansion through 4G and 5G technologies, with more than 4,800 towers serving over 31 million customers across Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
Ms Matotola noted that Nungwi remains one of Zanzibar’s key economic areas due to its tourism, fishing, and commercial activities, making the new store strategically important in improving customer access to Yas services.
She also encouraged residents to download and use the newly launched Yas App, which offers easier access to a wide range of digital services.
The Nungwi outlet joins Yas’ network of more than 556 stores across the country, aimed at enhancing customer experience and increasing access to digital services nationwide.
