YOUNG Africans have confirmed that defensive midfielder Khalid Aucho will miss both legs of CAF Confederation Cup final matches versus USM Alger after accumulating yellow cards.
The two teams meet in the first leg match at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam tomorrow before meeting again in the return leg at Stade du 5 Juillet in Algiers, Algeria on Saturday next week.
They are searching for a lucrative maiden opportunity to clinch the prestigious CAF title and that makes the fixtures tough to the both sides.
Already, USM Alger have landed in the country since yesterday morning ready for the game against the hosts knowing in advance that securing an away victory will be good results to them.
However, speaking yesterday in the city, Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager Ally Kamwe insisted that the Ugandan midfielder will not be part of action in the both encounters.
“The only bad news we have in our squad is that we will miss Aucho as he accumulated six yellow cards and according to CAF regulations, when you get six yellow cards, you miss two consecutive matches, that is the reason he is not going to play.
“As such, Aucho’s yellow card he had against Marumo Gallants was his sixth of the campaign, we are all surprised because we thought he will miss only one game,” Kamwe said.
He also pointed out that the squad is progressing well with training programmes ahead of the important match and that so far, no injuries have been reported.
“The technical bench has had enough time to analyse our opponents in terms of how they play away and home matches, so far, they have gained a good system on how to face them,” he said.
From the preliminary round to this stage, the Jangwani Street-based side has just suffered one defeat when they went down an away 2-0 loss to US Monastir in the group stage of the contest.
Likewise, the Algerian team picked one loss in the group stage of the competition after a 2-0 upset from Marumo Gallants in South Africa.
Meanwhile, Yanga continue with their fans mobilisation campaign in an effort to ensure that the 60,000 capacity venue is full packed during their tomorrow’s match.
So far, institutions, stakeholders and individuals are progressing with the purchase of tickets to compliment President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s motivation that saw her buying 5,000 tickets for fans.
