DAR ES SALAAM: YOUNG Africans will face Songea United today at KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam, with both teams battling for a coveted spot in the Federation Cup quarter-finals.
Yanga SC, the defending champions of the Federation Cup, have progressed to the round of 16 after impressive victories in the previous rounds.
They got a dominant 5-0 win over First League side Copco FC in the 64-round. In the 32-round, they triumphed 3-1 against Mainland Premier League side Coastal Union, earning their place in the next stage.
Songea United has also had a strong run in the tournament, defeating Polisi Tanzania 1-0 in the round of 32 to secure a spot in the round of 16.

In the 64-round, they saw off Kiduli FC in a dramatic penalty shootout after drawing 2-2 in regular time.
The winners of today’s match will join the teams already qualified for the quarter-finals, including Singida Black Stars, JKT Tanzania, Mbeya City, Stand United, Simba and Kagera Sugar.
In another match today, Mashujaa will take on Pamba Jiji, with both teams aiming for a place in the quarterfinals.
