Yanga, Simba, Singida BS in top gear ahead of new season

DAR ES SALAAM: AS the new NBC Premier League season draws near, topflight league clubs are sparing no effort to strengthen their squads and sharpen their edge.
The transfer window is buzzing with activity as teams bolster both their attacking firepower and defensive resilience, setting the stage for a fiercely competitive campaign.
Defending champions Young Africans lead the charge in the transfer market.
The Jangwani giants have secured the signature of right-back Israel Mwenda on a threeyear contract, adding much-needed pace and tactical discipline to their defensive flanks. Mwenda is poised to continue to bolster Yanga’s backline with speed and solidity.
Off the pitch, Yanga have made a strategic leadership appointment by unveiling Paul Matthews as their new Technical Director.
Matthews, a seasoned football strategist, is expected to bring fresh vision and a structured approach to optimising the team’s performance.
However, Yanga are also bidding farewell to a key figure. Midfield maestro and fan favourite Khalid Aucho has departed following the expiration of his contract.
Known for his commanding presence and midfield mastery, Aucho expressed heartfelt gratitude to the club’s supporters and staff for their unwavering encouragement throughout his tenure.
Not to be outdone, Simba SC who are Yanga’s historic rivals, have made a striking move by announcing the acquisition of South African central defender, Rushine De Reuck.
He is set to fill the void left by Che Fondoh Malone, who parted ways with Simba after two remarkable seasons guarding the heart of the defence with memorable performances.

In a parallel development, Singida have welcomed a new head coach—Miguel Gamondi—a familiar name in Tanzanian football circles following his previous stint with Yanga.
Gamondi has already joined pre-season preparations, gearing up to craft a competitive squad ready to tackle both domestic battles and international challenges.
