Yanga Princess pick Mbuna, Nkoma out

AFTER sacking Head Coach Sebastian Nkoma at the helm of Yanga Princess, the management of the club has picked Fredy Mbuna as his successor until the end of the season.
Nkoma who landed at the club on December 10th last year has seen his stay being reduced as the team sits on fourth place in the Women’s Premier League table with 22 points.
The statement released by the club yesterday, said both parties have reached mutual agreement to part ways.
“The management thanks him (Nkoma) for his good works throughout his tenure at the helm of the team,” read part of the statement.
However, his last match as Yanga Princess coach was a 1-1 draw with Simba Queens at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam in an epic Women’s Premier League derby.
On the day, the Jangwani Princess had to roar from one goal down to settle a draw and claim a point from their traditional rivals making it their fourth draw of the season.
In the first round meeting of the duo, the outcome was also a 1-1 draw hence neither of them has grabbed maximum points from each other this season.
According to the recent Women’s Premier League standings, Yanga Princess are on fourth slot with 22 points after playing 12 matches.
The top post is occupied by Fountain Gate Princess who have gathered 29 points, JKT Queens are second with 28 points while Simba Queens are third with 27 points.
It seems the title chase of the Women’s Premier League campaign is going to be tougher than ever before considering that the top three teams are just separated by one point.
In that sense, Fountain Gate Princess, JKT Queens and Simba Queens are destined to be among the key title contenders so far.
