DAR ES SALAAM: YOUNG Africans punished Tanzania Prisons 4-0 at KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
Clement Mzize opened the scoring board, followed by Ibrahim Hamad and Prince Dube, all within the first half. Hamad then added a second goal in the second half to secure a 4-0 victory for his side.
With the win, Young Africans have leapfrogged Azam into second place with 33 points from 13 matches, just one point behind league leaders Simba.
The two teams are now tied on points, but Young Africans hold the superior goal difference, pushing Azam into third place.
It all began in the 13th minute of the match; the electrifying Clement Mzize gave Young Africans the lead with a spectacular goal that lit up the stadium. Mzize’s strike came from a perfectly timed assist by the everimpressive Prince Dube, whose well-weighted pass allowed Mzize to execute a dazzling turn before unleashing a powerful shot into the back of the net.
The build-up to the goal was equally thrilling, as Mudathir Yahya displayed his brilliance by intercepting a pass from a Tanzania Prisons midfielder, who was attempting to mount an attack. Yahya’s quick thinking and tenacious pressing stole possession, setting the stage for his teammates to capitalise.
The result was a seamless and dynamic team effort that showcased both individual flair and collective determination, putting Young Africans in the driver’s seat.
As the first half neared its conclusion, Young Africans were in scintillating form, doubling their lead in the 42nd minute through the clinical Ibrahim Hamad.
The goal came from a beautifully executed set piece by Aziz Ki, whose delivery found its way to the crossbar. The ball rebounded off the woodwork and in the blink of an eye, Hamad, alert and in perfect position, pounced on the loose ball.

With remarkable precision, he launched himself into the air, meeting the ball with a volley that arrowed into the net, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
But they weren’t done yet. Just moments later, as the first half edged toward its final minutes, Young Africans orchestrated another brilliant team move.
This time, it was Prince Dube who added his name to the score sheet, finishing off a superb sequence of passes. Mzize laid the ball off to Aziz Ki, who, with a quick glance and a measured touch, played a perfect ball through to Dube.
One-on-one with the goalkeeper, Dube kept his cool, sized up the situation and confidently slotted the ball into the net.
The first half saw Young Africans take control and they continued their dominance in the second half. With several attempts to add to their tally, their efforts were finally rewarded in the 83rd minute, when Ibrahim Hamad converted a header from Pacôme Zouzoua’s set piece to seal a 4-0 victory.
