Women leaders urged to acquire financial education
KIBAHA, COAST REGION: WOMEN in leadership positions in the country have been urged to acquire financial education so that they can share it with their fellow women to enable them manage their projects profitably.
National Economic Empowerment Council (NEEC) Executive Director Ms Beng’i Issa made the call during the launching of a one-week training on Sustainable and Inclusive Women Leadership and Management (SIWOLEMA) at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Leadership College in Kibaha Town on Monday.
Ms Issa said since independence, the government has been working to improve business environment and create equal opportunities for all through various groups of people in the country, and one of these initiatives was to ensure that women who are major producers are not left behind in financial matters.
“After independence, only 10 percent of the country’s businesses was owned by the native Tanzanians. But the situation has really changed following efforts by our government.
We now see big businesses being owned by native Tanzanians and majority of them are women”, she stated.
However, she said that financial management among women especially in the area of saving money was still very low, urging the women leaders to search for education related to finance ad businesses for the mutual benefit of the whole society.

One of the trainers, Rt.Col Joseph Simbakalia said one of the subjects which was going to be taught was on patriotism and valuing country’s products.
The training was attended by women from government’s institutions including Police, NSSF, TCRA, female students from VETA College in Coast Region, various banks and non-governmental organisations.
