What French Embassy partners to streamline Visa services for Tanzanians

French Ambassador to Tanzania, Ms Anne-Sophie Ave together with TLS Contact officials, officially inaugurating the launching of Franca Visa processing in Dar es Salaam, recently.

If you are not aware, applying for a visa is essential when planning to travel to another country, as it provides official permission to enter, stay and engage in specific activities.

A visa serves as a key step in ensuring compliance with the destination country’s laws and helps maintain security by allowing officials to screen travellers before they arrive. Visas also clarify the purpose and length of stay, which can vary for tourists, students, workers and immigrants.

Additionally, a visa facilitates smoother entry through customs and immigration checkpoints, reduces the risk of denial or delays at the border and provides the traveler with documented authorisation for their visit.

Considering this, the Embassy of France in Tanzania has partnered with TLS-contact, a visa application centre, to enhance the visa application process for Tanzanian citizens looking to travel to France. This partnership aims to make visa applications more efficient and accessible, ensuring an improved experience for applicants.

As the official service provider, TLS-contact will handle the initial submission of visa applications, significantly reducing processing times for applicants while ensuring a smooth and supportive experience. The collaboration will allow the French Embassy to focus on thorough application review, thereby enhancing the quality of service and minimising wait times.

Speaking at the recent launch event, French Ambassador to Tanzania, Ms Anne-Sophie Ave, emphasised the Embassy’s commitment to improving visa services. “Previously, the application process was time-consuming, with clients often facing prolonged wait times just to reach the stage of biometric data capture. Each applicant requires approximately 15 minutes for data capture, which, when multiplied across the daily volume of visitors, consumes a substantial amount of time that could be dedicated to visa processing,” she stated.

With TLS-contact now managing these time-intensive tasks, the Embassy can focus on optimising service delivery. “We expect this shift to allow more applicants to secure appointments quickly, with the potential to receive their visas within a two-week timeframe. Initial results will be reviewed shortly, but we are optimistic that applicants will see reduced wait times and smoother processing,” Ms Ave added.

In the past, applicants have sometimes faced waiting periods of up to three months to secure appointments, impacting travel plans that often require timely visas. The Embassy is hopeful that with the support of TLS-contact, applicants will experience a more accessible and responsive service.
