DODOMA: DEPUTY Prime Minister and Minister for Energy Dr Doto Biteko has urged employees of the docket and its affiliated institutions to live up to the sector’s slogan “Less Words, More Action” in order to provide better services to the public.

Dr Biteko made the remarks in Dodoma yesterday at the Energy Bonanza which involved staff from the ministry and its affiliated institutions themed “Participate in Sports, Strengthen Health”.

Dr Biteko emphasised the crucial role of the energy sector in the country’s economic development.

“The energy sector is crucial in building the national economy…President Samia Suluhu Hassan is counting on us to deliver this essential service to the people,” he said. “Therefore, as employees, let us love one another, cooperate and work harder for the development of the sector,” he said.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the employees’ enthusiasm and active participation in various sports activities, pledging to make the bonanza an annual event after the budget session.

He said the intention of organising the employees’ bonanza is to motivate the workers so as to be able to provide better services to Tanzanians because they rely on the Ministry of Energy and its institutions to get such service.

The Minister of State in the  Prime Minister’s Office ( Policy, Parliament and Coordination), Ms Jenista Mhagama, expressed her happiness with the success of the bonanza, stating that it aligns with President Samia’s goal of ensuring Tanzanians maintain good health and avoid non-communicable diseases, which are primarily prevented through exercise.

“Sports improve health, build unity, bring joy and create new knowledge for serving Tanzanians. Therefore, I congratulate the Ministry of Energy for initiating the bonanza for the employees,” she said.

On her part, Deputy Minister for Energy, Ms Judith Kapinga, thanked Dr Biteko for initiating bonanza, which she said fosters love, and unity and enables employees to get to know each other better and strengthen the workforce.

She said she believes employees gained work motivation through the bonanza and were inspired to prepare and strengthen themselves for future sports.

Dodoma Regional Commissioner, Rosemary Senyamule, also congratulated the Ministry of Energy for holding the bonanza in Dodoma which further beautified the city and stimulated the economy.

She promised that the Dodoma regional government would continue to encourage citizens to exercise, as emphasised by the country’s top leaders, to improve health.

Furthermore, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Felchesmi Mramba, thanked Dr Biteko for his idea of coming up with  the bonanza which greatly motivated the employees and promised that the bonanza would now be held annually.

Furthermore, the Director General of the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), Dr James Andilile, whose institution emerged as the overall winner of the Bonanza, thanked Dr Biteko for valuing employees’ health.

He noted that the bonanza enabled the heads of institutions to discuss various issues and find solutions to some of them.
