WAFCON 2024: Brave Twiga Stars see off Ivorians

DAR ES SALAAM: Tanzania’s Twiga Stars have marched to the second round of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after 4-2 post-match penalties win over Ivory Coast.

The game at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday has seen the country’s brave ladies scoring twice in the second half to make it a 2-2 on aggregate.

Donisia Minja and Opah Clement were on target for Twiga Stars after a stellar performance in the second half.

At the sound of the final whistle, the scoreboard was balanced hence inviting spot-kicks to split the duo.

With the outcome, Tanzania will face either Togo or Djibouti in the next round of the qualifiers.
