VP calls for collective efforts to fight moral decay
VICE President Dr Philip Mpango has urged parents and guardians to make close follow up of their children and provide better upbringing in order to contain the increasing incidents of moral decay in the society, including homosexuality.
Dr Mpango insisted that parents should closely monitor their children’s school progress to know what they learn and how they live or interact with other people while at home.
He said collective measures are critical from parents, religious leaders and government officials to uproot the emerging moral decay that if it goes unnoticed the future of citizens, including youth and children and the country at large will end up in vain as immorality will reign in the community.
Dr Mpango made the statement recently in Ilemela District while responding to citizen’s message conveyed through posters that called for zero homosexuality tolerance within the country.
The residents pushed for stern measures against the misconducts that emerge as the challenge to social welfare and national development in general.
“Let us protect both male and female children from this emerging insane moral decay, we must collectively end this vice for the good of our livelihood and country’s sustainability,” said Dr Mpango.
Adding “Back in the day the issue of children protection against moral decay was for female children alone, today all children are at high risk of moral decay, it is up to us to rescue them and our country.”
Dr Mpango also urged teachers and lecturers at schools and universities to ensure that students stick to good ethics, referring to the fact that youths and children who are mostly students are the most vulnerable of moral decay.
Furthermore, he urged parents to ensure their children attend school and provide a balanced diet at home in a bid to see the nation having a smart physical and mental health workforce enough to stir the country’s technological transformation and economic development.
The VP on Wednesday winded up his two-day tour of Mwanza region which was scheduled for April 11 and 12 April this year.
During his tour, the VP focused on key development issues, including commercialization of Lake Zone farming, maximization of tree planting and environment conservation to confront climate change and balance diet intake for citizens’ wellbeing and the national prosperity.
