DAR ES SALAAM: In honour of former President James Earl Carter, Jr., the U.S. Embassy has invited Tanzanians to share their personal messages in a condolence book at the American Corner, located downtown inside the National Museum, Dar es Salaam.
The condolence book will be open for signing on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 9-11 a.m. and from 1-3 p.m., according to a statement posted by the embassy on its X account (formerly Twitter).

President Carter passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 100 in his hometown of Plains, Georgia, United States.
Carter had been treated for cancer and spent the last 19 months in hospice care. He lived longer than any U.S. president in history, and his legacy extends far beyond his single term in the White House.

The 39th U.S. president served from 1977 to 1981 under the Democratic Party. He also served as the 76th governor of Georgia from 1971 to 1975 and in the Georgia State Senate from 1963 to 1967.
Carter was a renowned humanitarian and Nobel Peace Prize winner, remembered as a man who lived a complex and full life.
