DAR ES SALAAM: MANAGEMENT of Upanga Club has expressed heartfelt gratitude for hosting the Reunion of Cricket Legends Tanzania, during a special event held on Thursday night in Dar es Salaam.
This marks the second time the club has welcomed the esteemed cricketers.
Club Chairman, Prakash Gajjar and Vice Chairman, Babulal Chudasama shared their excitement, emphasising the honour of hosting such iconic figures in the cricketing fraternity.
During the event, Gajjar and Kanu Rathod, the Group Lead for Reunion Cricket Legends Tanzania, exchanged tokens of appreciation, symbolising their shared passion for the sport.
Chudasama said: “We are thrilled to greet these legends who have represented our country and various teams. Upanga Club has a special affinity for cricket in Tanzania and we consistently strive to promote the sport.”
He noted the significance of hosting the legends, highlighting the importance of unity and conversation centred around cricket.
“Our club is dedicated to nurturing the game, ensuring that we continue to support cricket at all levels,” he added.
He also pointed out that Upanga Club has maintained one of the key cricket grounds in the area for the past 35 years, providing youth with opportunities to play.

The club’s commitment extends to grassroots support, which Gajjar reiterated by acknowledging Upanga’s rich cricket legacy and strong ties with the Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA).
“Whenever an opportunity arises, we are eager to collaborate and contribute to the betterment of the game,” he said.
In addition to cricket, Upanga Club also boasts teams in snooker, darts and table tennis, showcasing a diverse sporting culture.
Gajjar emphasised the club’s long-standing history of success in cricket and its contributions to the national team.
Rathod and Dinesh Vaishnav, a senior administrator for the Reunion Cricket Legends of Tanzania, expressed their gratitude, saying they feel honoured to be welcomed at Upanga, one of the oldest clubs in Tanzania.
Said Upanga has produced some of the country’s finest cricketers including some of the visiting Legends and it’s a privilege to reconnect with old friends and celebrate, shared love for the game.
Overall, the reunion celebrated the rich cricket history in Tanzania and reinforced the Upanga Club’s role as a vital supporter of the sport and its community.
