Universal Health Insurance Law brings relief to all Tanzanians
DODOMA: THE Tanzanian government has announced the completion of the Universal Health Insurance Law, a major step aimed at providing a long-term solution to ensure all citizens, including the elderly, have access to healthcare services without financial barriers.
Speaking in Parliament today, June 25, 2025, in Dodoma, Deputy Minister for Health, Dr. Godwin Mollel, delivered the announcement while responding to a question from Member of Parliament Grace Victor Tendega. To ensure effective service delivery, Dr. Mollel directed all healthcare facilities in the country, from dispensaries to the national hospital, to establish special service windows dedicated to elderly patients. This initiative is intended to eliminate the hassle and delays often faced by seniors, enabling them to receive timely care without navigating multiple hospital departments.
The government continues to emphasize the importance of delivering quality healthcare to vulnerable groups such as the elderly, reinforcing its commitment to ensuring that no citizen is left behind in accessing essential health services.
