TSN hails its former MD’s commitment in spearheading its digital transformation

DAR ES SALAAM: THE former Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN) Managing Director, Asha Dachi ,has been praised for spearheading the company’s digital transformation and strengthening teamwork, achievements that staff say have laid a solid foundation for the institution’s future growth.

Speaking on TBC1’s Jambo Tanzania programme on Wednesday, Acting Manager for Kiswahili Information Services at TSN, Mgaya Kingoba, described Madam Dachi as a visionary and results-oriented leader whose nearly two-year tenure transformed the state-owned media house.

According to Kingoba, Ms Dachi championed digital reforms, fostered a collaborative working culture and pushed forward plans for the construction of a modern newspaper printing plant, while bringing TSN closer to the public.

He noted that the organisation was significantly different from when she took over, attributing the transformation to her strong leadership, professionalism and commitment to institutional development.

“Asha Dachi is a courageous, visionary and hardworking leader. She trusted employees to do their jobs, then provided guidance and oversight to ensure everything was done in accordance with the law and professional standards,” Kingoba said.

He added that Dachi encouraged teamwork and discouraged workplace divisions, creating an environment where staff worked together towards common goals instead of operating in isolated groups.

Moreover, Kingoba said TSN’s management benefited immensely from her leadership, noting that she empowered journalists to perform their duties while providing strategic direction and effective supervision.

Dachi was appointed Director General of the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) on Tuesday, July 15, 2026 by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, bringing her tenure at TSN to an end.
