DAR ES SALAAM: DAR ES SALAAM-BASED tech venture factory, Ennovate Ventures has been selected as one of five standout ecosystem builders for Village Capital’s Empowering Sustainable Entrepreneurship in Africa (ESEA) Programme.
Ennovate Ventures Co-CEO, Mr Joseph Mwanyika, stated that since its inception, the organisation has supported nearly 3,000 founders, including 300 female entrepreneurs. “This has led to the creation of over 3,000 jobs and improved the lives of 1.2 million people,” he said.
The ESEA programme supports early-stage startups working on scalable solutions in sectors like climate adaptation, renewable energy, the Blue economy and food security.
With backing from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), Ennovate Ventures will receive up to 674m/- to further its mission of fostering sustainable innovation in Tanzania.
This funding will strengthen the team, host workshops for climate-focused startups and provide regrants to entrepreneurs developing sustainable solutions.
Additionally, Mr Mwanyika highlighted that Ennovate Ventures aims to create 500,000 opportunities for African youth through its digital entrepreneurship development programmes.
“We focus on integrating finance with technical support to ensure the sustainability of all startups in our programmes,” explained Mr Mwanyika.
He added, “We are confident that by offering advisory services and sector-specific mentorship, we can significantly contribute to the long-term success of these startups.”
Mr Mwanyika stated that as part of the 2025 ESEA programme, Ennovate Ventures will collaborate with other ecosystem builders, including Catalyst Fund (Kenya), Emerge Livelihoods (Malawi), ideialab (Mozambique) and Reach for Change (Ghana).
