TCU opens 2023/2024 admission window

THE Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) on Saturday announced to the general public the official opening of the admission window for undergraduate applicants in higher education institutions for 2023/2024 academic year.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam yesterday, the TCU Executive Secretary, Professor Charles Kihampa, said that the window was opened yesterday and will go until August 4 this year.

He said that the applicants have been put in three categories, where the first category is for those who have reached form six, second category is for those with Ordinary Diploma or its equivalent and the third category is for those with Foundation Certificates from the Open University of Tanzania.

Prof Kihampa said that for interested candidates, they can access more information and requirements from the Undergraduate Admission Guidebooks for 2023/2024 which can be accessed through their official website, www.tcu.go.tz.

“Applications should be sent straight to the institutions which the applicants are interested in, because more information can be accessed from there,” he said.

He advised applicants to read the application guide provided by TCU carefully and understand it before starting to apply, which he said can be done through logging in the official website.

He said that applicants with certificates issued by examination boards abroad must submit their certificates to the National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA) or the National Council for Technical Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET).

Prof Kihampa warned applicants to avoid using shortcuts to apply, saying that TCU has not contracted any agents for the exercise, because there are conmen who use the opportunity to swindle applicants, pretending they are TCU agents.

He also used the opportunity to announce the upcoming 18th Higher Education Science and Technology Exhibition which is expected to take place at the Mnazi Mmoja grounds from July 17 to 22 this year.

He said that apart from displaying services and programmes offered by higher education institutions in the country, the exhibitions will also be a good place for applicants to go and apply for enrolment.
