Prepare for emerging skills training opportunities, youth told

DODOMA: TANZANIAN youth have been urged to prepare for expanding skills training opportunities as the government intensifies education reforms to develop a competent workforce capable of supporting economic growth.
Deputy Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Wanu Hafidh Ameir, made the call in Dodoma, urging young people to prepare in advance rather than wait for opportunities to emerge before acquiring the necessary skills.
She said the ministry was implementing measures to improve the education system, while Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Adolf Mkenda, was engaging development partners to expand access to skills training.
Ameir said partnerships with development stakeholders were intended to equip young people with knowledge and practical skills aligned with labour market demands and technological advancements.
She added that government investment in education institutions, alongside increasing collaboration with development partners, was creating opportunities for young people to acquire skills needed across productive sectors.
The Deputy Minister urged youth to remain proactive and take advantage of the emerging training opportunities to improve their employment prospects and contribute to national development.
The initiatives are part of broader efforts to strengthen the link between education, labour market requirements and the skills needed to support Tanzania’s economic growth.
