Tanzania’s Foreign Affairs officials thank Indian government for enhancing their skills in diplomacy

NEW DELHI: OFFICIALS from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation have thanked the Indian government for facilitating their training in the field of diplomacy saying the training helped to cement Tanzania-India cooperation in human resource capacity building.

The officials participating in a special diplomacy training programme in India, visited the Tanzanian High Commission in New Delhi, and the visit provided them with an opportunity to interact with Embassy officials.

During the visit, the officials met with Embassy staff and held discussions with the Tanzanian High Commissioner, to India, Anisa Mbega, together with other Embassy officials, on various issues related to the implementation of diplomatic responsibilities.

Speaking while welcoming the officials, Ambassador Mbega said the Embassy was pleased to receive their colleagues from the Ministry and congratulated them on securing the opportunity to participate in the special training programme aimed at enhancing their skills and knowledge in the field of diplomacy.

Ambassador Mbega said she believed the training had strengthened their professional capacity and that the knowledge they had gained would help improve their performance, increase productivity and enhance efficiency in carrying out the Ministry’s responsibilities.

She also thanked the government of India for responding positively to the Ministry’s request to facilitate the training of the officials, saying the initiative was an important component of Tanzania-India cooperation in human resource capacity building.

Ambassador Mbega added that the Embassy of Tanzania in India would continue to work closely with the Government of India in various areas of mutual interest, a move she said would further strengthen relations and cooperation between Tanzania and India.

The officials are in India for a short-term special training programme funded by the Government of India and conducted by the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS). The programme is aimed at enhancing their capacity in modern diplomacy, international and regional affairs, history, digital transformation, culture and India’s foreign policy.
