Tanzanian students empowered with essential skills for studying overseas

DAR ES SALAAM: THE DREAMS of Tanzanian youth who are hoping to join various universities abroad for the 2026/2027 academic year have reached an important milestone after Global Education Link brought the students together with their parents and guardians to review documents and complete travel preparations.

The session, which was held at the Global Education Link Headquarters, Dar es Salaam, aimed to ensure that every student has the correct documents, sufficient information and necessary preparations before leaving the country to begin their studies.

Among the issues reviewed in the session were visa documents, admission letters, accommodation confirmation forms, travel preparations as well as instructions on how to live and study in a new environment outside Tanzania.

Speaking at the meeting, Global Education Link Managing Director, Abdulmalik Mollel, said the main objective of the session is to review and complete important documents for students, answer questions from parents and ensure that challenges that may delay the trip are resolved early.

Mollel stated that one of the key factors parents, guardians, and students should consider after selecting a college is verifying its legal recognition.

He noted that even if a student has been advised on or assigned a college through Global Education Link, the parent or guardian still bears the responsibility of ensuring the institution is officially recognized by the relevant authorities.

“Even if the college was recommended by Global Education Link, as a parent, you must satisfy yourself regarding its recognition. The proper approach is to obtain official confirmation from the government authority that oversees universities,” said Mollel.

He added that an official confirmation letter from the Tanzania Universities Commission is what enables a parent or student to be sure that the chosen institution is legally recognized.

Mollel said the step is important because it protects the interests of the student and ensures that the degree, diploma or other qualifications he will obtain after graduation can be recognized by the relevant authorities in the country.

He urged parents not to be satisfied with information available through social media, advertisements or unofficial information alone, but to follow the procedure recognized by the Government before making a final decision.

According to Mollel, a study trip abroad does not end with getting a chance to join a university alone, but requires preparations regarding visas, accommodation, transportation, security, laws, the culture of the country in question and the student’s ability to live with discipline and responsibility.

He said Global Education Link has put in place a procedure to guide students and their parents step by step, from choosing a course and university, applying for admission, obtaining a letter of admission, confirmation of the university, visa applications, preparing for accommodation to making the trip a success.
