TANZANIA: TANZANIA’s agricultural landscape is being transformed by Kilimotech Chatbot, an AI-powered assistant designed to provide farmers and livestock keepers with real-time agricultural support.
Developed by Elias Patrick, Executive Director at TechForward Tanzania, this innovative tool is bridging critical information gaps by offering instant access to expert farming advice, market insights, and financial opportunities—all through WhatsApp.
Recognizing the challenges farmers face, including limited access to expert guidance, unreliable market data, and financial constraints, Patrick saw the need for a digital solution that could empower farmers with knowledge to enhance productivity and profitability.
“Kilimotech Chatbot provides real-time guidance on crop production, soil health, and disease control. It also helps farmers connect to markets, ensuring they sell their produce at competitive prices,” he explains.
One of its standout features is AI-powered disease detection. Farmers can type “Picha” or “Chunguza,” upload an image of a plant or livestock issue, and receive an instant diagnosis. Additionally, the chatbot connects users to financial opportunities for business growth.
