Tanzanian envoys explore ways to streamline travel procedures for Tanzanians visiting China
GUANGZHOU: TANZANIA’S Commissioner General of Immigration, Dr Anna Makakala, has visited the Tanzanian Consulate General in Guangzhou during her trip to Jiangsu Province, where she is scheduled to attend a security conference organised by the Government of the People’s Republic of China.
Dr Makakala and her delegation were received at the consulate by Tanzania’s Ambassador to China, Dr Suleiman Suleiman, and the Consul General in Guangzhou, Khatibu Makenga.
The officials discussed the operations of the Consulate General and challenges faced by Tanzanian nationals living in or travelling through the region.
Among the issues discussed were access to passports, emergency travel documents and other immigration services.
Dr Suleiman commended the Tanzania Immigration Department for its cooperation in addressing challenges affecting Tanzanian citizens, saying such collaboration has helped ensure that cases are handled promptly and effectively.
Dr Makakala, meanwhile, praised the Consulate General for promptly reporting challenges affecting Tanzanians and providing practical recommendations for addressing them.

She said timely communication between the consulate and the Immigration Department enables authorities to take appropriate action more efficiently and improve services to Tanzanian nationals abroad.
Dr Makakala was accompanied by Zanzibar Commissioner of Immigration Hassan Hassan Ali, Commissioner responsible for border affairs Fakih Nyakunga, and other officials from the Tanzania Immigration Department.
