Tanzania, UK agree to bolster ties in economic development, trade, diplomacy

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA and the United Kingdom have agreed to deepen their long-standing partnership by expanding cooperation in trade, investment, economic development and diplomacy.

The commitment was reached during talks between the British High Commissioner to Tanzania, Marianne Young, and the Acting Director of the Europe and Americas Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ellen Maduhu, in Dar es Salaam on Thursday.

Information from the ministry for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, the meeting, which is the first between the two officials since Ms Maduhu assumed her new role, provided an opportunity to strengthen working relations and exchange views on a range of bilateral issues.

According to the ministry, both sides agreed to build on the strong ties between Tanzania and the United Kingdom while exploring new areas of cooperation that will advance the interests of the two countries.

Additionally, the leaders underscored the importance of close collaboration in economic affairs, trade, investment, social development and diplomatic engagement as part of efforts to further strengthen bilateral relations and deliver greater benefits to the people of both nations.
