Tanzania strikes gold in ECA Motocross showdown

MITYANA: TANZANIANS had a joyous Easter in Mityana, Uganda, after winning the MX2 category in the first round of the Central Africa Motocross Championship 2025 over the weekend.

Tanzania led right from Day One while commanding the third place in the MX 1 category.

The Tanzanian hero in the event was  Masoud  Seif Khamis, who powered his  Honda CRF 450 to the MX2 category’s throne, beating tricky tracks of the muddy Mityana area.

Eight riders represented Tanzania in the First Round of the Central Africa Motocross Championship n Uganda.

Participants from East and Central African countries were involved in the action-packed two-day racing showdown.

Besides Masoud and his Honda 450 bike, others were Ally Hamoud, who rides a KTM 250 bike, Liam Frank Miller in a Husqvarna FC 450, and Juma Khalif Kejo in a Yamaha 250F.

Other Tanzanian envoys were Gustav Bernard Minja, Simon Vitalis  Mangombo, who rides a Suzuki 450R, Kelvin Gabriel Akyoo in Suzuki 450R and Kelvin Bashiri Mtangi, who rides a Honda CRF 250.

Uganda dominated the MX 1 category while Tanzania excelled in the MX 2 discipline.

The event missed participants from Kenya as its participants didn’t show up due to their internal political rift.

This year’s FIM Central African motocross challenge (CAC)  celebrated a huge milestone.

The regional event held during the Easter weekend in Mityana district marked 20 years since its initiation.
