Tanzania, Senegal agree to bolster cooperation in oil and natural gas, technology transfer

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA and Senegal have moved to deepen cooperation in the energy sector, with the two countries exploring joint opportunities in oil and natural gas development, technology transfer and skills development.

This was reached in a discussion between Tanzania’s Minister for Energy Deogratius Ndejembi and Senegal’s Minister for Energy and Petroleum, Dr Elhadji Abdourahmane Diouf, held in Dar es Salaam, where the two sides discussed strategic areas that could accelerate growth of the sector in both countries.

The discussions focused on sharing technical expertise, training energy professionals, adopting modern technologies in oil and gas exploration and extraction, as well as strengthening collaboration in implementing major energy projects.

Speaking during the meeting, Minister Ndejembi said closer cooperation between Tanzania and Senegal would help attract investment, improve efficiency in the energy sector and support economic growth.

The meeting was also attended by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Energy responsible for Petroleum and Gas, Dr James Mataragio.
