Tanzania sees good progress in its preps for AFCON co-hosting

DODOMA: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Culture and Sports has received and reviewed a report from the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports on Tanzania’s preparations to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The report was presented in Dodoma by the ministry’s Deputy Minister, Hamisi Mwinjuma, before the committee chaired by Husna Sekiboko.

During the presentation, Mwinjuma outlined the progress made in Tanzania’s preparations for the tournament, including the construction and renovation of stadiums expected to be used during the competition.

“The committee has received and reviewed the ministry’s report on preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations,” a parliamentary statement said.

The Deputy Minister also presented an update on the employment database for the information, culture, arts and sports sectors. The initiative is intended to provide accurate statistics and information on human resources within the sectors.

Following the presentation, committee members asked questions and shared their views on various aspects of Tanzania’s preparations for AFCON 2027, as well as other issues raised in the report. Mwinjuma provided responses and clarifications to the matters raised by the committee members.

Tanzania will co-host AFCON 2027 with Kenya and Uganda, with infrastructure development and essential services among the key areas being monitored as the three countries prepare for the continental tournament.
