Tanzania seeks to expand access to affordable infrastructure financing after talks with ShafDB

NAIROBI: TANZANIA has announced a bid to expand access to affordable housing and infrastructure financing following discussions between the Ministry of Finance and Shelter Afrique Development Bank (ShafDB) on the sidelines of the 26th Annual General Meeting of the African Trade and Investment Development Insurance (ATIDI).
The discussion held in Nairobi between Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Finance, Engineer Mshamu Munde, and the leadership of ShafDB, focused on strengthening cooperation in investment mobilisation, housing development and financing of development projects.
Additionally, the two parties’ discussions centred on unlocking new funding opportunities for housing projects and related infrastructure aimed at supporting sustainable economic growth.
Both sides agreed to deepen strategic cooperation that will enhance access to development finance, boost investment opportunities and support the delivery of affordable housing and resilient infrastructure across Tanzania.

During their talks, Engineer Munde said the government remains committed to working with ShafDB to identify and utilise development opportunities that will improve access to decent housing, strengthen the housing sector and enhance infrastructure resilience in line with national development priorities.
Shelter Afrique representative Charles Kazuka said the bank is ready to continue strengthening its partnership with Tanzania in financing housing and infrastructure projects, noting that Tanzania remains a key partner in advancing the bank’s mission of promoting sustainable development across Africa.
ShafDB is a pan-African development finance institution owned by African governments and development finance institutions, dedicated to mobilising investment and financing housing and related infrastructure projects across the continent.
