Tanzania-Russia private sector players discuss trade, investment

MOSCOW: TANZANIAN private sector players, including Mkuyu Africa, have explored trade and investment opportunities with Russian investors during business discussions in Moscow, aimed at strengthening commercial ties between the two countries.
The discussions, held yesterday on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa Summit, focused on potential cooperation in energy, agriculture, mining, construction and infrastructure.
The Tanzanian delegation, comprising representatives of the Tanzania Private Sector Federation (TPSF) and businesspeople from various sectors, used the platform to showcase the country’s investment potential and encourage Russian investors to explore available opportunities.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Mkuyu Africa Director Juneid Othman said the company was pleased to participate in the forum, which brought together businesspeople and investors from different regions.
He said the meeting provided an opportunity to establish business relationships, exchange experiences and engage potential partners who could help expand the company’s operations.
“We are pleased to participate in this major investment forum because it has given us an opportunity to meet businesspeople, learn from them and establish relationships that could help expand our businesses,” he said.
Mkuyu Africa deals in the sale, leasing and construction of residential and commercial properties in Tanzania, with projects in various parts of Dar es Salaam, including Kariakoo, Masaki, Msasani, Kawe, Mbezi and Mikocheni.

Through its operations, the company seeks to tap investment opportunities in the property sector while promoting property ownership and supporting business activities linked to construction.
Kenyan participant Peter Omong said such platforms were important in helping entrepreneurs, particularly young businesspeople seeking to expand their operations, find partners and identify new opportunities.
He said participating in the meeting had enabled him to connect with a trader dealing in heavy fuel oil and fertilisers, describing the engagement as an important step towards broadening his business network.
