Tanzania pledges to maintain ties with NGOs in implementing social development projects

DODOMA: THE Ministry of Finance pledges to continue building understanding, exchange experiences and strengthen cooperation between the Tanzanian government and the non-governmental organizations to ensure the implementation of social development projects is highly effective.
This was stated by the Acting Assistant Commissioner, Department of Foreign Finance, Ministry of Finance, John Kuchaka, while opening a workshop that brought together the Government and stakeholders from NGOs, held at the Mkandarasi conference hall, in Dodoma.
He said the efforts of the Tanzanian government have been focused on ensuring that the development of citizens is achieved in an inclusive and sustainable manner where the contribution of these organizations is important in delivering services to the community and supporting Government efforts in various sectors.

‘‘Through this workshop, training will be provided on key issues including guidelines for following financial procedures for non-governmental stakeholders, government budget guidelines as well as guidelines for coordination and development cooperation in order to have a common understanding of the systems and procedures that govern these activities,’’ explained Kuchaka.
He added that through this training, the Government hopes to build the capacity of all stakeholders in ensuring that the activities of organizations are in line with national priorities while following the procedures set to bring positive results to the citizens.
He advised the participants to use the opportunity to exchange experiences and identify areas for improving cooperation with emphasis placed on increasing transparency, accountability and efficiency in the implementation of all development projects in the country.
And some of the participants in the workshop, including the Director of Doyodo Tanzania, Rajabu Juma, as well as the Assistant Registrar of Non-Governmental Organizations in Manyara Region, Anna Emmanuel, said the training will help them strengthen the collaborative environment and increase efficiency in the implementation of their responsibilities so that the community continues to benefit from the services provided by non-governmental organizations.
The one-day workshop brought together stakeholders from the Government and non-governmental organizations from the regions of Kigoma, Dodoma, Kagera, Mara, Manyara, Tabora, Rukwa, Singida, Shinyanga, Simiyu, Geita, Tabora and Arusha.
