Tanzania golfers target glory at Kenya Ladies tourney

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA’S top amateur golfers are set to tee off tomorrow at Limuru Country Club in Limuru, Kenya, in the 2026 Kenya Ladies Amateur Strokeplay Championship.

The prestigious 54-hole tournament, played over three days, has attracted elite competitors from across the East African region. Leading the Tanzanian charge is Madina Hussein of Arusha Gymkhana Club (AGC), who returns with her sights firmly set on reclaiming the title she won in 2023.

Hussein, who features in Friday’s tee schedule alongside strong regional contenders, will be aiming to replicate her past success and further cement her status as one of the country’s standout golfers.

She is joined by in-form teammate Neema Olomi, whose recent performances have marked her as one to watch, as well as Aalaa Somji, another AGC golfer expected to make an impact.

The trio forms a strong contingent from the northern Tanzania-based club. From Dar es Salaam, Vicky Elias of TPDF Lugalo Golf Club is also in the field, bringing experience and a competitive edge to the Tanzanian lineup. Kilimanjaro Golf.

will be represented by Jazila Daniel and Rachel Mushi, both eager to challenge the region’s best on Kenyan soil. According to the official tee times released for Friday, the Tanzanian players are scheduled across the afternoon sessions.

Elias tees off at 12:15, while Somji, Hussein and Mushi are grouped at 12:33—though Somji will start from hole 10, with the others teeing off from hole 1.

Olomi and Daniel follow at 12:42 from tee 1, setting up a crucial window for Tanzania’s campaign. Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) president, Timea Chogo, expressed confidence in the team and wished the players success as they represent the nation abroad.

“We are proud of our golfers and believe they will compete with determination and skill as they raise the Tanzanian flag in Kenya,” she said.
