Africa50 Shareholders meeting set to brighten Dar this week
DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA is set to host the Africa50 Annual General Shareholders Meeting and the Infra for Africa Forum on August 5–6, 2026, at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam, with President Samia Suluhu Hassan expected to officiate as the Chief Guest.
Speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam, Minister of Finance Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar said preparations for the high-level event are progressing well. The forum is expected to bring together more than 1,200 participants from Tanzania, across Africa, and the international community.
The participants will include government leaders, international financial institutions, investors, private sector representatives, and development partners who will discuss strategies to strengthen investment in infrastructure projects aimed at accelerating Africa’s economic growth.
Ambassador Omar noted that this year’s meeting coincides with the 10th anniversary of Africa50, which began operations in 2016. He explained that the institution was established through a partnership between African governments and the African Development Bank (AfDB) to accelerate the preparation, financing, and implementation of strategic infrastructure projects across the continent.
He added that Tanzania has continued to benefit since officially joining Africa50 as a shareholder on February 14, 2023. According to the minister, the membership has expanded the country’s opportunities to participate in the preparation, development, and financing of major infrastructure projects.

“Since Tanzania officially joined Africa50, the country has benefited from expanded opportunities to actively participate in the preparation, development, and financing of large-scale infrastructure projects,” Ambassador Omar said.
Among the projects being implemented in collaboration with Africa50 are the development of Mangapwani Port in Zanzibar, the Mini Liquefied Natural Gas (Mini LNG) Project, electricity transmission infrastructure projects, and the expansion of healthcare services, particularly dialysis treatment facilities, through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).
The minister said the meeting is expected to provide an important platform for sharing experiences, mobilizing investment, and strengthening regional cooperation in the implementation of infrastructure projects that will make a significant contribution to Africa’s economic development.
The 2026 meeting will be held under the theme: “A Decade of Economic Impact: From Ambition to Delivery.”
