Tanzania envisions superior technology in the newly opened STEM centre

DODOMA: THE newly launched Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) training centre at Tanzania Community Networks Polytechnic College (TCNPC) in Dodoma is set to accelerate the growth of technology in the country.
This has been said by TCNPC Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Jabhera Matogoro, during the official inauguration of the facility held at the college’s campus today, March 4th.
“These physics and computer laboratory equipments will go a long way to strengthen training in STEM for both students and the wider community in the country,” he said.
Again, Dr Matogoro acknowledged STEMpower Inc who donated the equipment for trusting and supporting the institution, while affirming that the tools will be effectively utilized to enhance teaching and learning.
“Let me take this opportunity to invite primary and secondary schools located here in Dodoma to allocate time for their students and teachers to visit the centre and participate in STEM training for free of charge.
“This free training initiative aims to expand access to practical science and technology learning opportunities for young people; hence, they should embrace this chance,” he said.

He added that this initiative supports the national development agenda as outlined in Tanzania’s Development Vision 2050 as well as in the Education and Training Policy of 2014 (2023 edition), which emphasizes strengthening of science, technology, innovation, and skills development as key drivers of Tanzania’s socio- economic transformation.
On his part, STEMpower Inc Technical Manager Eng. Santo Mabior Mathiang commended TCNPC for its commitment to promoting STEM education among youths in the country.
He noted that the modern laboratory equipments have been provided as support to enhance teaching and learning through the use of advanced scientific tools and technologies.
Also, Eng. Mathiang applauded the government of Tanzania for the significant improvements made in the national education curriculum, emphasizing that these reforms have created strong motivation for international partners such as STEMpower Inc to contribute more towards advancing science and technology education in the country.
TCNPC, a technical institution registered by the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET), is situated at Nzuguni Ward in Dodoma.
