Tanzania completes a new work plan for laboratory testing services

MOROGORO: THE Ministries of Health in Tanzania and Zanzibar, in partnership with the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, and the World Health Organization (WHO), through the Pandemic Fund project, and development partners, CIHEB, have achieved the acquisition of a new work plan aimed at strengthening laboratory testing services and the appropriate use of medicines.
The acquisition of the plan has been completed following the conclusion of a working session held in the Morogoro region.
This step comes as a strategy to address the increase in antimicrobial resistance (AMR), especially antibiotics that have begun to fail to treat some diseases in the country.
The working session involved experts from various sectors under the One Health strategy, which includes the human health, livestock, and environmental sectors from both sides of the United Republic of Tanzania, namely Tanzania Mainland and the Islands.

He noted that it is important to ensure that the plan prepared in collaboration with development stakeholders is fully implemented to strengthen UVIDA monitoring systems.
He added that this step will help ensure that patients continue to receive the right care and ultimately reduce the epidemic of drug resistance in the country.
It was stated that the completion of this work plan is now considered a solid foundation that will help the country have a solid guideline to protect the effectiveness of medicines and save the lives of citizens.
