TANAPA, FZS through KfW financial support donate training equipment to Ngorongoro   VETA centre

The Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) in collaboration with the Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) have handed-over modern equipment worth 85m/- to the Ngorongoro Vocational Development Training Centre (NVDTC) for the introduction of a new course on plumbing and pipe fitting and strengthening training on masonry and sewing and electrical installation.

The equipment donation has been made possible by the German Development Bank (KfW).

FZS Project Manager at Serengeti office , Mr Masegeri Rurai, urged Ngorongoro residents to invest in education in line with the changing socio-economic environment for sustainable conservation.

“There’s no way, we must change our life style through education. The land that we’ve isn’t enough. Secondary school leavers must come here for professional training,” he said.

He added that the projects being implemented across the country need trained personnel — the many young men and women completing primary and secondary education.

Mr Rurai is a veteran conservator with vast experience of the Serengeti ecology.

He used the occasion held on Monday to thank KfW for supporting conservation activities and community development through FZS and TANAPA.
