State urges public input in new education policy launch

DODOMA: THE government has urged all citizens across Tanzania to participate in the official launch of the 2023 edition of the Education and Training Policy, scheduled for tomorrow.

Chief Government Spokesperson and Permanent Secretary in the Information, Culture Arts and Sports, Gerson Msigwa informed journalists on Wednesday that President Samia Suluhu Hassan will officiate at the groundbreaking inauguration ceremony.

The ceremony is set to be a significant milestone, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the country’s education system.

The Education and Training Policy is a vital document that outlines the government’s vision and strategies to improve Tanzania’s education system. It addresses key issues such as access to education, quality of education, and the alignment of the education system with the needs of the labor market.

“The government is encouraging Tanzanians in Dodoma to attend the launch and show their support for the new Education and Training Policy,” Msigwa said.

The launch represents a major step forward for Tanzania, and the government is calling on all citizens to join in celebrating this important event.

The event will be held at the renowned Jakaya Kikwete Convention Centre (JKCC) in the capital, Dodoma and will be attended by government officials, education stakeholders and members of the public. Msigwa noted that citizens who cannot attend the ceremony in person can follow live broadcasts from the comfort of their homes.

At the event, President Samia is expected to deliver a keynote address, emphasising the importance of education for the country’s development and the wellbeing of its citizens.

During the media briefing, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, Prof Carolyne Nombo, expressed hope that the new Education and Training Policy would address existing challenges in the education system and improve the quality of education for all Tanzanians.

“For the successful implementation of the Education and Training Policy, an implementation strategy is crucial and we already have that strategy in place,” she said.

The ceremony promises to be a historic occasion, ushering in a new era for Tanzania’s education system.
