The Tanzania Embassy in South Africa has asked all Tanzania citizens in South Africa to refrain from getting involved in chaos and remain calm following the ongoing protest in the country.
According to a statement issued by the embassy on Monday, there has been a national protest and strike in various places in South Africa.
“All Tanzanians living in this country should take precautions, be calm and refrain from getting involved in these events,”
Equally, the embassy emphasized on communication saying in case of any matter involving Tanzania nationals it should be reported to the embassy through the community leaders.
According to the BBC, South Africans are holding protests against the government and are calling on the president to resign amid the high cost of living.
The government has deployed soldiers to help safeguard key infrastructure during the protests.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has warned protesters against damaging property or harming people.
