Singida ties cash rewards to ward nutrition performance

SINGIDA: SINGIDA District Council is tying cash rewards to ward performance on child nutrition, with Itaja Ward topping the latest quarterly ranking to take home a certificate and 100,000/-, part of a push by officials to hold all wards accountable for improving children’s diets.

Mudida Ward came second and will receive a certificate and 70,000/-, while Ngimu Ward, which ranked third, will receive a certificate of recognition and 50,000/-.

The rankings, announced by Singida District Council Executive Director, Ms Ester Chaula, cover the fourth quarter of the council’s Nutrition Contract, running from April to June 2026.

Ms Chaula said the awards are aimed at recognising outstanding performance and motivating wards to further strengthen implementation of nutrition interventions for improved health and wellbeing of residents, and urged all stakeholders to effectively discharge their responsibilities and intensify efforts in their respective areas.
